Nepal

NAMASTE! SWAGATAM (WELCOME) to the Nepal pavilion! Nepal, nestled between China to the north and India to the south, is a small and beautiful country. Nepal is about one-fifth of the size of Alberta with a population of over 28 million! Despite her small size, Nepal is geographically diverse with a rich socio-cultural heritage.
Geographically, the country has three major regions – the high mountains (Himalayas), the Hills (middle mountains), and the Terai (prairies). Nepal is also a dream destination for many people around the world who love mountaineering expeditions.
Socio-culturally, Nepal’s population is an admixture of Indo-Aryan and Tibeto-Mongoloid origins with over 60 ethnic and sub-ethnic groups and over 70 spoken languages.
In Edmonton, we have a small but a vibrant community of about 450 Nepalese. The community has over a dozen programs and events throughout the year.
Join us at the Nepal Pavilion during the Servus Heritage Festival for the cultural show and taste of delicious Nepali dishes.
