Indonesia

Indonesia is a land of oceans and seas, with a necklace if islands, reefs and volcanoes, a vast garland stretching along the equator between Asia and Australia. No fewer than 17,500 islands fan out covering 5000 km from East to West and over 2,000 km from North to South, making up the largest archipelago in the world. This is a country of raw nature, from abundant forests and vast beaches to Komodo Dragons and Orang-utans. The surrounding sea area is 3 times larger than the land, with Indonesians calling their country Tanah Air Kita, literally “our Land and Waters”. “Unity in Diversity” is the national motto fort Indonesians, which points to one of the greatest attributes of Indonesia. There are some 300 ethnic groups as a result of the country’s unique geography and history. Many Indonesians may see themselves first by ethnic cultural group and secondly as Indonesian.
