France

Bienvenue au pavillon France! Welcome to “France”! It is with pride and pleasure that we are taking part in the 35th Servus Heritage Festival.
Our small country (compared to Canada) is at a mere 7,164 km from Edmonton (distance Edmonton-Paris). Areawise, France is 552 000 km2 which is 4/5 of the 661 000 km2 of Alberta, but far more populated with 65 million which is 20 times the population of Alberta. So here is your chance to travel without leaving Edmonton: come to our pavilion!
In addition to our famous crêpes, this year our kitchen will give you the opportunity to taste another one of our specialties: crème anglaise et sablés (light custard served with short bread cookies). Hurry, it is available in limited quantities!
In the café de France you will find a video montage of some of France’s magnificent sites, some culinary related items (such as aprons, tea towels made with traditional French material) as well as some traditional candies/sweets and, yes, it does exists even in France, junk food. For those more interested in French history some special playing cards with historical notes. Some of our traditional costumes will be displayed on mannequins (they are not festival hustle friendly).
Finally, we dare you to fool us: order your dish in French! Bon appétit!
